Originally an 18th century fisherman's home, Solway Cottage has been extensively modernised and updated while still retaining its original charm.
It is now a two bedroomed property that can comfortably accommodate 4 adults, or 2 adults and up to 3 children. It has a modern kitchen and a traditional sitting room with wood burning stove.
The modern dining kitchen has an induction stove, microwave, double oven, a small air fryer, a large SMEG fridge freezer, and plenty of worktop and cupboard storage.
The cosy sitting room has a traditional Tetrad Harris Tweed sofa and 2 armchairs; the wood burning stove is easy to operate and is set ready to light on your arrival.
The cottage is well insulated, with a mix of electric panel and air convection heaters supplementing the wood burning stove.
There is no tv in the cottage; instead a selection of games and a dvd player with a choice of dvd’s to suit most tastes can be found in the ‘press’ (a large cupboard in the sitting room). The cottage has good broadband wifi so you can stream your favourite shows to your own device if you wish
The larger bedroom has two twin beds that can be joined to make a superking bed if required. A put-me-up bed can be provided for a child in this room if required. We don't provide a cot or other baby facilities; and due to the wood burning stove we do not recommend the cottage as a suitable property for children under 3.
The main bathroom has underfloor heating with a large centre tap bath, an electric shower, a hand basin and WC
The shower room has a large walk-in shower, toilet, and hand basin with demisting mirror and a heated towel rail; it also has underfloor heating.
The laundry area has a combined washing machine/ tumble drier and an inbuilt fold-down ironing table.
The garden has seating and a dining bench, and the garden shed houses a rotary drier, a wind break, camping chairs, and boogie boards.
The smaller bedroom has a double bed with a super comfortable Dreamcatcher mattress.
There is a private parking space in front of the cottage, accessible from the main road. There are also excellent public transport links, with regular bus services to Forres and Elgin, both of which have railway stations. Inverness airport is less than an hour away.
The cottage is close to the village shop and an award winning artisan bakery, and only two minutes walk to the waterfront local pub. There are two other bar restaurants in the village to choose from, and a variety of takeaway options that will deliver.
Please note Solway Cottage is a non smoking property, and we do not allow pets.
Solway Cottage is an ideal location if you wish to explore Moray - whether it’s dolphin watching, golf or a whisky tour, there’s plenty to see and do!
