Findhorn village

Solway Cottage sits in the heart of the beautiful and historic village of Findhorn, once a thriving fishing community. On the coast of Scotland's Moray coast the area has stunning beaches and countryside all within walking distance. The village sits on a peninsula, with Findhorn Bay to the west and the Moray Firth to the north, and is the centre for every water based activity imaginable, as well as a gorgeous 4 mile long sandy beach.

It's a renowned place to see wildlife. Seals are permanent residents at the mouth of the Findhorn Bay, and the celebrated Moray Firth dolphins can be often be seen leaping in the nearby waters. A short walk from the cottage, North 58º Sea Adventures run dolphin spotting trips. All manner of seabirds and waders can be spotted from the shoreline. Wildlife photographers are a frequently seen species around here!

The village itself is well equipped for visitors with two pubs and several great places to eat. The well stocked village shop and Post Office is close by, and even nearer is The Bakehouse, home to a craft bakery and organic food shop.

The village is 5 miles from the town of Forres and 14 miles from Elgin, both towns with large supermarkets and specialist shops. Inverness Airport is only 26 miles and Inverness itself 36 miles. There is a regular bus service to the local towns.
